Today is an unusual day! Our music class is performing the movie "Mean Girls", in an opera format. I'm in the script committee and I have to write the script for the opera. Its going to be a challenge to change this popular movie into an opera.
Our school is also performing a musical before Christmas. It is going to be ,"The Sound of Music" . I volunteered for the backstage crew. Its going to be amazing and I cant wait for it:)

Pencil Skirts and Kitten Heels
Hello:)
We just had careers and we were talking about work experience. I cant wait for this . These two weeks are going to be my highlight of TY. My first work experience is taking me to the South Dublin County Council in November. I am going to the legal department. I am really excited. It will be really interesting to learn what it is like to actually go out to work rather then be stuck in school. I'm just wondering if my work experience will require me to wear certain clothes. Like, will I get to wear the usual denim and T-shirts or kitten heels and pencil skirts?
For my second week I am returning to my old primary school, Scoil Mochua. I would really love to be a primary school teacher and I would love to work with children in the future. It will be interesting to see my past teachers and how things have changed in my school.

From ME to US

I have been in TY for almost a month now and I'm starting to realise what it is about. I was just recently working on my science project when I realised I am beginning to learn how to work as a part of a team. By not just handling the pressure by myself.

The past comes back
Hello:)
Yesterday we got our junior cert results. I was happy with what I received even though I was a bit nervous at first. That night my friends and I all went to time and had a great night:)
To be honest now though I think its time to get alot of sleep and rest the legs.

Carlingford = Memories
Hello:)
The past two days we were in Carlingford Adventure Centre in County Louth. It was fantastic ,amazing and brilliant. The two days started with getting up at six in the morning which was alright(sarcasm). We got there around eightish and the fun began. We were spilt into two groups. First we did challenges which were good buy tiring but nothing could compare us for what was coming next. We had to hike up this massive monster of a hill that was the steepest thing Ive ever seen in my life. When we finally got to the top we played laser shooting which was my favourite activity. After the laser we went for dinner and then back up the hill for a night line which was fun. We then got our rooms. I was put with 15 of my friends in a house near the centre. The accommodation was warm and cosy. From nine until eleven we had free time which was great.
The next day we had breakfast at eight and then went orienteering which was the worst activity in my opinion because of all the hiking and walking. Then we had lunch and rock climbing.
Carlingford was amazing and loved every minute of it. I would go back for a week next time. The instructors were all lovely and supportive. I definitely would go back again.

New Beginnings
Hello:)
My name is Shannon and Ive been in TY for almost two weeks now. So far it has been the best start to a year in school Ive ever had. Everything is different but in a good way.As usual when you start a new year in school you get your journal and your locker but in TY the project work starts straight away. TY is a break from studying but we still have work to do. We are now working on our projects for the Young Scientists Exhibition. We also have a geography project to do on countries and a Home EC. project which involves us making something out of white jeans and a T-shirt inspired by a particular period of style. I like doing projects and I'm looking forward to starting my Home EC. project. Projects are much better than studying.This year we started a new subject called Mini-Company. I would enjoy it more if I could come up with an idea.
Next week all of TY is going to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Down. I am so excited for this . I cant wait to go away and take part in the activities. Last week we had photography,pilates and dance . To be honest this is my favourite part of the week.I love taking taking part in the Charleston dance because its a type of dance Ive never heard of before.
